Twisted Daze – Psychological Thriller

In my last post, I mentioned I was thinking of writing a psychological thriller based around some odd events that really happened in a house my family once lived in.  Well, I must have really wanted to write that story as draft one is already done.  It still has a lot of editing ahead, but I hope to have it out by the end of May or early June.

Writing Twisted Daze has forced me to revisit some of the strange events that actually happened in that house, so I’ve used them to tell a story about a couple who move to the country.  Upon arriving at the new home they foolishly use the Ouija board (which I did). After that night strange things happen (and they did), including a series of murders in their local area (which I’m pretty sure didn’t happen).  The story follows the journey of a woman who is struggling to understand what’s taking place around her, twisting left and right until the whole filthy truth is uncovered.  The ending gave me chills!

Here’s a sneak-peek of the blurb for Twisted Daze.

Is the Ouija board a toy or a tool?  After moving to a new town, Serena plays the game with devastating consequences.  While her life and health slowly unravel, women in her small community are being murdered in their homes.

Struggling to find her feet, she’s warned time and again that someone or something is on her tail.  Women are dying and they all look like her.  The police aren’t closing in on anyone, leaving every woman fearful in their own home.  When the truth is finally revealed, Serena learns nothing was as it seemed, and that sanity is a hard-won state of mind.

Twisted Daze is a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing right up until the last page.  Based on some of the author’s real life experiences, this twisted tale has a sting in the tail that will make you wonder about the fine line between reality and insanity.

I should have been finishing Battlefront, but once I’d thought of Twisted Daze I felt compelled to write it. Next stop is probably a new series which I’m thinking will be called Bombardier.  I can’t quite let go of my Navigators and we’re going far into the future where there are next generation Navigators, known as Bombardiers, and our original warriors slugging it out against the aliens who very nearly destroyed them.  Bombardier will expand on the tech and capabilities developed in the original series, but it will be a flat-out space war to decide which side gets to rule the universe.

While we work on the plot for Bombardier I’ll get back to those Horsemen.  Gears has been waiting impatiently for a full-scale battle and I can’t disappoint the big guy or he just might kill me, you know how he gets!

So, I’m hard at work and I took a twisted detour from my schedule.  The cover designer is still busy whipping up something special for this book and as soon as I have it I’ll let you know.  In the meantime, happy trails!

  1. I can’t wait to read this!!! This is right up my alley I love the supernatural !!! You never disappoint in your writing, so I’m doubly excited for this!!!!!

    1. Thank you! This book is quite different for me — more mystery and spook than all guns blazing! I hope you enjoy it! It’s certainly been fun to write. On reflection, that house was very weird — probably should have moved sooner! 🙂

  2. Good to read about Bombadier as I read and enjoyed all Of Navigator. Twisted Daze isn’t my usual type of story but I trust your writing enough that I will read it.

    1. Thank you, Glenn, your trust in my writing means a huge amount to me. Twisted Daze isn’t my usual all action, blow ’em up kind of style. It’s written from the woman’s perspective, which is a first for me. I used the layout of the real house I lived in and many of the spooky events that happened in it to drive the story. Most of the sub characters are real (names changed, of course) and they said many of things I’ve included in the book. Writing it was like taking a trip down memory lane with a freaky twist!

I’m an ex Trekkie (took some therapy to recover from that, lol) so I love a good space war! Plus I got suckered into the tech. Once I wrote the last chapter, realizing Dunk (our favorite megalomaniac) was going to steal the alien tech as well, I just wanted to keep exploring it. I’m working with my plot developer and we already have some wild plans for the Navs, Bombadiers and their spaceships! I’m not sure whether we’ll design this as a short, sharp series or standalone books with complete plots in each. Once Twisted Daze is out in the next day or two, we’ll be rolling up our sleeves and taking over the universe (as you do).

I’ll definitely keep you posted and thank you for being so supportive. Believe me, it’s always really appreciated!
